Red Dog is a casino game that is played in a very similar way as acey deucey. Playing Red Dog is very easy and simple. It is a card game and for this you have to use a standard deck of 52 cards.
At the very beginning of the game, you have to make an initial bet and after the bet, you have to be dealt two cards face-up on the table.
Basically, two cards are flipped over and you are betting that the third card flipped will fall in-between the other two cards. For example, if the two cards that are flipped over are a Jack and a 7, then you need the card to be an 8, 9 or 10 in order to win your bet.
In Red Dog, you must place a bet before the two cards are flipped over. This is in contrast to acey deucey, which allows the player to see the cards before they decide to bet. Once the two cards are flipped over, you must decide whether to raise or don’t raise.
The main factor to whether you raise or not is the spread or number of cards between the two on the board. The spread is important to determining how much money you can win.
If the spread is 1, like if a 4 and 6 were the two cards flipped over, you get paid 5 to 1 on your bet if that one card (the 5 in this example) comes.
So if you bet $10 on the hand, you would win $50, if you got lucky and hit your card. A spread of 2 pays out 4 to 1, a spread of 3 pays out 2 to 1 and a spread 4 or higher pays out even money.
The hand that is dealt can tie in two ways. If the two cards flipped are of consecutive rank (10,Jack), it is called cons and the bet is pushed. If the two cards pair, then a third card is flipped over. If that third card makes a three of a kind, the bettor wins 11 to 1 on his bet.
Red dog strategy is pretty basic, you should generally raise when the spread is 7 or higher. That would be like a 4 and a Queen gets flipped up. 7 is the lowest spread that gives the player the winning advantage.
You can get away with raising on a spread of 6, but don’t go any lower than that.
